How To Save A Relationship By Setting Goals

It can be difficult yet an incredibly empowering journey developing all the skills necessary to facilitate love and trust between you and your partner.

When learning how to save a relationship we cannot underestimate the importance of goal-setting. There may be times of despair or there will be moments when your difficulties will seem insurmountable. However, by learning how to focus on clear objectives you will get a stronger sense of progress. You will avoid getting confused along the way and instead of being an individual with mixed-up feelings you will come out as a person with clear vision and purpose.

You want to get back with your partner, you want to save your relationship. While these are excellent intentions, they aren’t goals. Goals must represent specific actions.

Go and sit down in a quiet place. Make a list of all the things that pop into your head. What would you like to accomplish in your relationship? At this point don’t try and filter anything out; just write all the ideas that come to your mind.

Here are some suggestions that you may come up with when going through this process:

  1. Learn to communicate more clearly

  2. Learn to listen

  3. Create more love and trust

  4. Develop a greater sense of worth

  5. Feel more special and appreciated

  6. Be more open with my partner

  7. Spend more quality time together

  8. Have a more fulfilling sex life

Keep these initial ideas at hand. These will help you when you want to rewrite them on a separate sheet of pater turning them into specific actions. For example, under “Be more open with my partner” write: “From now on I commit to only those actions that contribute to my becoming more open” then write:

Learning how to save a relationship is an important process and goal-setting is one of the stages that you've got to learn as soon as possible. However, don't go to the extremes of writing down too many of your goals. Start first with a few of them that you think are most easy for you to attain. As you progress your goals will become more complex. Remember that what makes a goal successful is not how many of them you’ve come up with but what concrete actions you’ve undertaken in pursuit of the attainment of your goal.
